Andere relevante info	The Maritime Institute is an independent research unit advising and carrying out studies for governmental administrations, non-governmental organizations and private companies. The staff of the institute is specialized in topics concerning international maritime law, law of the sea, national and international environmental law, transport law, national and international environmental conservation law and related policy studies; Research activities of the Maritime Institute primarily focus on legal and policy aspects related to international law, law of the sea, environmental law, maritime law and transport law. The Institute can act as a consultant to public and private organisations, but also submits regularly own research initiatives for external funding. The Institute has already worked for various administrations of the Ministry of the Flemish Community (Department of Environment and Infrastructure), the Federal Ministry of Environment, Greenpeace International, UNCTAD, Ghent Port Community and private companies. Furthermore the Maritime Institute organizes the post-graduate Interuniversity mastercourse in Maritime Sciences; organizes conferences, colloquia, workshops (either on its own or in collaboration with other institutions, organizations and universities); and is involved in various training projects in co-operation with other organizations or universities. There is also a close collaboration in the field of port marketing aimed at representatives of ports in developing countries.
